Every service — Standard Hot Wax and Deep Strip + Hot Wax alike — uses the same SILCA Secret Chain Blend. The difference between the two is the preparation method, not the wax itself. The Deep Strip uses SILCA Chain Stripper for an extra-intensive clean before waxing. It is an optional upgrade in preparation intensity, not a different or superior wax formula.

Standard Hot Wax — $25
Chains are stripped with mineral turps and rinsed with methylated spirits to remove existing lube and contamination. Our standard preparation provides thorough cleaning for normal chain preparation before hot waxing in SILCA Secret Chain Blend.
Deep Strip + Hot Wax — $35
An intensive chain-cleaning treatment using SILCA Chain Stripper before hot waxing with SILCA Secret Chain Blend. Ideal for heavily lubricated, contaminated, or previously difficult-to-clean chains, or for riders who simply want the most thorough preparation available. The additional cost reflects the cleaning product, time and labour involved.
Re-Wax — $7.50
Chains I have waxed before come back clean and ready, so a re-wax is a quick, low-cost treatment. The same SILCA Secret Chain Blend is applied. Re-wax is only available for chains that are already on the Velowax system and in good condition.
If your chain already uses a quick link, I will reuse it by default. This is not recommended by the manufacturer and is done at your own risk. If you would prefer a new quick link, just let me know when booking. If your chain does not currently have a quick link, it will need to be converted to one before I can refit it. A name-brand quick link (KMC, Shimano, or SRAM) will be sourced at cost price via my supplier, 99 Bikes, and the exact brand and price confirmed with you before your booking is finalised. A receipt will be provided after your second visit.
First Wax Recommendation
For your first wax I recommend using a brand new chain, so the wax soaks into clean metal with no old lube trapped inside. This is a recommendation only, not a requirement, and a used chain is fine as long as it strips clean.
Excessive Lubricant
If a chain is loaded with so much old lubricant that it cannot be fully degreased, it cannot be waxed at all, because wax will not bond to a contaminated chain. In that case a $5 fee applies to cover the chemicals used trying to strip it, and the chain comes back to you unwaxed. This is extremely unlikely.
