Strip
All old lube and contamination removed with a mineral turps soak. Thorough preparation for the wax to bond properly.
Clean
Methylated spirits rinse removes any remaining residue. The chain must be spotless before waxing.
Hot Wax
Immersed in molten SILCA Secret Chain Blend at the correct temperature so the wax penetrates every inner link.
Ready
Dried, checked, and returned. Install and ride — no cure time needed.
Deep Strip + Hot Wax — $35
An intensive chain-cleaning treatment using SILCA Chain Stripper before hot waxing. Ideal for heavily lubricated, contaminated, or previously difficult-to-clean chains, or for riders who simply want the most thorough preparation available. The same SILCA Secret Chain Blend wax is used as with the standard service.
Our standard preparation provides thorough cleaning for normal chain preparation. The Deep Strip is an upgrade in preparation intensity — an option for customers who want an additional level of intensive cleaning, not an indication that the standard process is insufficient.
Heads Up
If a chain arrives carrying excessive existing lubricant that cannot be fully removed, it cannot be waxed. Wax will not bond properly over leftover lube, so I will return the chain unwaxed rather than give you a poor result. This is extremely unlikely.
Drop off in Glen Iris
Bring your bike to me in Glen Iris. I remove the chain, do the work, and refit it when you come back.
Bring your bike
Ride or bring your bike to Glen Iris. I remove the chain on the spot. Take your bike home.
I do the work
Full strip and hot wax. Ready within 48 hours. I will message you when it is done.
Bring your bike back
Return with your bike when ready and I refit the waxed chain. Ride away.
